Game Dev

Coming Soon…

Working on something cozy and creative!

Brain Dead

A top-down 3D arcade shooter inspired by Smash TV developed in the Unity3D Engine for CS6457 at Georgia Tech’s OMSCS program.

Worked as the level / environment designer, game developer and project manager/producer.

White boxed levels and arranged environmental assets, placing pickups in gameplay and diegetic relevant positions.

Used C# to create and place event triggers for spawning items, environmental destruction and other triggers.

Balanced weapon and enemy archetypes to create challenges that the player needed to find an answer for using a combination of movement and choosing the most effective tools from their arsenal.

Created playtest protocol and proctored playtest sessions. Quantitatively and qualitatively measured player engagement, their knowledge of the game’s mechanics, the flow of the level and ability to pilot the player character.

Alt Minecraft Tutorial

OMSCS 6460 class project on ideating, developing, and testing an extended tutorial system for Minecraft.  Minecraft is a game that, while being procedural in nature, does not give much guidance to its players, especially novices that are new to video games.

Analyzed and modeled the learning and progression processes for Minecraft.

Developed new tutorial popups, event triggers, UI elements and blocks using Java.

Led control and test group participants through a study that evaluated the tutorial’s effectiveness.

For installation and usage instructions, see README file in the GitHub repository.

Solus

Solus is a first person walking-sim / adventure game made in Unreal Engine 4 about a lonely astronaut wandering through space looking for a new home.  It was developed over 2 years as a UC Santa Cruz senior+junior capstone project from ideation to prototyping to active development to playtesting and release, eventually showcased at the UCSC “Sammy’s” games showcase.

Worked as level designer, gameplay programmer, narrative director and voice acting director.
